About us

Who are Cumberland Presbyterians

We are a member of the Presbyterian and Reformed family churches, our roots go back to the Presbyterian Church in Switzerland and Scotland.

We are Presbyterian in government rather than congregational. Our units of government are the Church Session, Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly. We are a connectional Church, related on all levels, a congregation related to the whole.

Cumberland Presbyterian came out of the old Presbyterian Church, February 4, 1810, on the American frontier, the result of differences over theology, ministerial education, methods of ministry.

We were one of the first churches to ordain women for the ministry. This began in the late 1800's. we also elect women as church officers.

We are evangelical in nature. We believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ and that we have been commanded by Him to go and preach the good news all over the world.

We are mixture of traditionalism and openness. We attempt to conserve our traditions while at the same time being open to new ideas.

Who are we?

A group of Cumberland Presbyterians living in Saline County felt called to plant a church in the area. As a result of that calling, the Fellowship began in 2006 with Dr. Ed Hollenbeck agreeing to be the shepherd. It began at the Bryant Senior Citizens Center. From there it moved to the new Community Center Building at Bishop Park. and then to its present location on Marketplace. We received our church charter in 2016 and now operate as the Crossroads CP Church.

Core beliefs

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and Jesus Christ His only son, our Lord and Savior.
